FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CANAAN HUNTER RESCUED FROM WOODS

On Thursday November 17, 2016 Canaan Police, Ambulance and Fire Department units were dispatched to the area of Grafton Turnpike Road in North Canaan for a report of a hunter suffering a medical emergency in the woods.

Approximately 30 minutes after the initial call, emergency responders located the male, in his 60’s, approximately one half mile off of the main roadway in rugged terrain. It was quickly determined that the patient was suffering a life-threatening medical emergency and could not walk from the scene. Canaan Police and EMS personnel were able to render emergency care to the male while awaiting an evacuation.

Emergency responders were able to eventually reach the patient utilizing an all-terrain utility vehicle, allowing him to be evacuated via a logging trail.

Canaan emergency responders were assisted by the New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game, Lebanon Fire Department EMS, Hanover Communications Center and several neighbors.

CANAAN MARIJUANA SALES ARREST

arthur-lee-clarkOn November 11, 2016 Canaan Police Officers arrested Arthur Lee Clark, age 42 of Cornwall, Vermont. Clark was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and attempted sale of a controlled drug.

Clark arranged to meet with undercover Canaan Police Officers to sell an agreed upon amount of marijuana. Clark was arrested at the scene and his vehicle was seized.

After executing a search warrant on Clark’s vehicle, officers recovered approximately thirteen ounces of high-grade marijuana and cash. The search also uncovered additional evidence of drug sales. The marijuana has a street value of approximately $4,400.

confiscationThe drug possession and attempted sales charges are a Class B Felony and each charge carries a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison.

Clark was released on $10,000 personal recognizance bail to ensure his appearance in the 2nd Circuit Court – District Division – Lebanon on Monday January 9, 2017.
