News Release: March 21, 2014
On Friday March 21, 2014, after an investigation conducted by the Canaan Police
RAYMOND E. ESTES, age 36, of Canaan, New Hampshire
was arrested for one (1) count of Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault, a Special Felony
that carries a maximum penalty of twenty (20) years in prison. He was held at the Grafton
County House of Corrections on $30,000 cash bail. The charges allege that Raymond
Estes sexually assaulted a fifteen (15) year old girl.
NIESSA A. ESTES, age 34, of Canaan, New Hampshire
was arrested for two (2) counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, both Class A
Misdemeanors that carry a maximum jail sentence of one year and a fine of up to $2,000 on
each charge. She was held at the Grafton County House of Corrections on $5,000 cash bail.
The charges allege that Niessa Estes knew of the sexual abuse and did nothing to stop it.
An arraignment was held Monday March 24, 2014 in the 2nd Circuit Court – District
Division Lebanon. Raymond Estes’ bail was increased to $50,000 cash only and Niessa
Estes’ bail remained at $5,000 cash only. The couple is still being held at the Grafton
County House of Corrections. The investigation is ongoing.
