On Tuesday August 9, 2016 at 4:30 PM the Canaan Police responded to a citizen’s report of traffic regularly exceeding the speed limit on Blackwater Road in Canaan.
Shortly after arriving in the area, the officer saw a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. The officer obtained a radar reading of 76 miles per hour. The posted speed limit on Blackwater Road, a residential area, is 30 MPH. There was also pedestrian traffic near the roadway at the time.
The officer stopped the vehicle and subsequently arrested a 17-year-old male for
• Reckless driving
• Driving without a license
• Driving with an alcohol concentration of .02 or greater while being a person under 21 years of age
After processing, the juvenile was released on several bail conditions and ordered to appear in the 2nd Circuit Court – District Division Lebanon on Monday October 3, 2016.
