Sergeant Porter began his law enforcement career in the State of Maine
with the Waldo County Sheriffs Department in 2001. He served as a Deputy
Sheriff in the Patrol Division while attending Unity College where he received
a Bachelors Degree in Conservation Law Enforcement and an Associates Degree
in Human Relations.
Sergeant Porter also served with the Plainfield,
New Hampshire Police Department prior to being hired with the Canaan Police
in 2004. Sergeant Porter was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2007.
In addition to being a Patrol Sergeant, Sergeant Porter has expanded
his duties and training to include F.T.O. (Field Training Officer), S.O.U.
(Special Operations Unit), Traffic Crash Investigations, and Highway Drug
Interdiction.
